Joseph “Jo-Jo” E. Lamp passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laverva Geraldine Lamp (née Fischer), and his father, Elton K. Lamp, along with his grandparents, several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Joe is survived by his beloved partner of more than 30 years, Darlene. He also leaves behind his cherished stepchildren: Brian (Eva) Worcester, William (April) Worcester, Tina (David) Rawlins, and Michelle (Mickey) Rister. Joe was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. He is also survived by several cousins.
Joe grew up in Lorain, Ohio, where he developed a love for speed and competition as an avid box car racer in his youth, earning several trophies from his race wins. Music was another lifelong passion. He enjoyed playing the drums and performed in the bands Borderline and Showdown as well as several other bands. A devoted fan of America’s Top 40, Joe faithfully documented the weekly countdown every Sunday, a tradition that reflected both his love of music and his attention to detail.
He also loved NASCAR racing, Cleveland sports teams, and capturing family memories on his camcorder—moments that will now be treasured even more. Joe retired from Ridgid Tool after 40 years. He also worked for Apples for 10 years. He was known as a hard worker who took great pride in supporting and providing for those he loved.
To his grandchildren, Joe will always be remembered for his goofy personality, his infectious laughter, and his famous dance that never failed to bring smiles. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5 at Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria from 10:00 am until the time of service at noon. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain will follow the service.
