Leo G. Helsley

Leo G. Helsley, 87, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, August 14, 2026. He was born in Essex, Missouri, to Erma Irwin on July 16, 1939.

After graduating high school, Leo served proudly in the Air Force prior to becoming an Air Traffic Controller. After retiring, he began another adventure and started Frontline Soccer Shop in North Olmsted, Ohio.

He was passionate about hockey, golf and bowling and, thus, enjoyed watching his grandkids and great grandkids participate in sports and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from sports activities. Leo was a 27-year member of Elyria Elks Lodge 465 and will be missed.

Survivors include his companion and significant other, Denise Ignatz; daughter, Karen (Gary) Kincannon of LaGrange; one son, Kevin (Migdalia) Helsley of Elyria; five grandchildren, Ashley Rosas and Kari Kincannon and Nicole Helsley, Kyle Helsley and Danielle Ramsey and great grandchildren Elyssa, Madden, Piper, Leo, Layla and Arianna.

Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle M. Helsley (nee Schneider) in 2012 and his parents.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street in Elyria, Ohio on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 10am for Visitation. Funeral services will be in the funeral home following Visitation at 11am. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio.
