Ursuline A. Gezzer

Ursuline A. Gezzer, better known as Sally to all who knew her, at 105, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 12, 2026 in Elyria, Ohio. She was born on February 18, 1921, to Ralph and Rose (nee Kasper) Boone in Berea, Ohio.

Sally enjoyed maintaining the church gardens and was an avid quilter. Her giving spirit lent itself to the Presidency of the Altar Rosary at St. Jude Catholic Church, was an active participant in the American Red Cross, and took joy in baking cakes for the Cake Wheel Festival. One achievement she was extremely proud of was being crowned as the 50’s Mother of the Year. Her employment at Fisher-Fazio Grocery (now Giant Eagle) for over 30 years in the meat department as a meat cutter and wrapper left with an enjoyment of a good, tender steak.

She is survived by her daughters Cheryl (Louis) Lester, Jacquelyn (Greg) Supers, Paulette (Frank) Weaver and stepdaughter, Susan (Ed) Waggermann. She truly enjoyed her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen, and her parents Ralph and Rose Boone; her children, Dawn Simon, Ralph Janz, Barbara Coral and John Johnson. Her twin sister, Geraldine Grey, and her brother, John Boone, who while serving his country during WWII, was shot down over Italy during combat.

The family wishes to thank Sanctuary Hospice for all their wonderful care for Sally during her last days.

Family and friends will be welcomed on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home at 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, OH 44035. Fr. Jose will be officiating the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Jude Catholic Church at 590 Poplar Street, Elyria OH 44035 with interment immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Elyria, OH.
