Virginia Ann Halstead Green, also known to family as “Bebe,” daughter of the late Cledith and Mabel Paige Halstead, was born on November 6th, 1937. After her gradual decline from Dementia, she peacefully went to sleep on Monday, September 25th, 2023, at 1:39am. She was surrounded and supported by her husband, her children, and a loving family, as her caregivers.

Virginia was raised in West Virginia where after graduating from Sherman High School she worked as a telephone operator for C&P Telephone Company in Charleston, West Virginia.

In 1955, while still in high school, Virginia was in a quartet group, called “The Bopetts”. They won first place of the Tattler Talent Show where they did a rendition of “Mr. Sandman”, one of Virgina’s favorite songs.

In 1957, Virginia married her high school sweetheart, James Owen Green Sr., known as “Jimmy”. Of this union three children were born, James Owen Jr., Lisa Michele, and Timothy Wayne. In 1959, Jimmy and Virginia relocated to Lorain County Ohio where they currently reside.

In 1971, Viriginia was led to faith by her brother-in-law, Donald Moody, at her dads passing. It was at this time that Virginia accepted Christ as her personal Savior.

Virginia’s relationship with Christ was so blessed that she was called to write poems when moved. She often wrote about close family members, stating “God gave her the thought, so she was going to write it.”

Although Virginia never worked outside the home, she was a dutiful ambassador at The Church of Open Door. Amongst her duties were, Childrens Ministry, and her favorite serving over the “Coffee and Doughnuts” as well as the Christmas events for her Ambassador Sunday School Class.

Virginia was a special wife, mother, sister, and friend, to all whom she interacted with. It was shown through her relationship with her family. Virginia spent years nurturing special relationships with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joy of her life, and she cherished their time spent.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cledith, and Mabel Halstead. Her brother Cledith Lee Jr., and her sister Patricia Lee Moody (Donald). Her great grandson Jeremiah Kauffman.
